This page turns PNG into GIF. It is needed for programs and chats that accept only GIF. Animated PNG (APNG) is supported too: frames and their delays are carried into an animated GIF, and the number of colors is set by hand.

PNG stores an image without loss and supports full transparency, so it suits screenshots, logos and graphics. PNG also has an animated variant, APNG, which holds several frames, and this page can read them.

GIF holds no more than 256 colors and only full transparency, but it supports animation and plays almost everywhere. For photos it gives a heavy file with visible banding, so the number of colors and dithering are best chosen to suit the picture.

For GIF you set the number of colors from 2 to 256 and dithering: the fewer the colors, the lighter the file. GIF has only full transparency, so semi-transparent edges become stepped: fill them with a color if needed. Animation is kept: all frames and their delays are carried over, and the speed from 0.5× to 2× and the loops (endless or once) can be changed. The size in pixels can stay as it is or be changed by width, by height or in percent. Results download one by one or all at once as a ZIP, with random or original names.
