Compress to 1 MB
Reduce a photo to 1 MB: the quality is chosen automatically and, if needed, the pixel size is reduced slightly. Everything happens in the browser, files are not uploaded anywhere.
The quality is chosen automatically: the highest one at which the file is not larger than the chosen size. If the file is already smaller, the original is kept.
A 1 MB limit appears on forums, blogs, feedback forms and when sending screenshots and documents to support. A photo from a smartphone or digital camera usually weighs 3 to 10 megabytes.
The page compresses an image to 1 MB and chooses the quality automatically: it is encoded several times, and the highest-quality version that fits the limit is chosen. At this size the picture usually looks almost the same as the original.
If the source file is very heavy, for example a shot from a high-resolution sensor, the option enabled by default slightly reduces the pixel size. Turn it off if you need to keep the original resolution and a more noticeable loss of quality is acceptable.
You can load several files and download the results separately or all at once. If an image already weighs less than 1 MB, it is left unchanged. WebP works well for lightweight photos; for maximum compatibility choose JPG.
Everything happens in the browser and files are not sent to a server. After you close the page, the temporary data is removed from memory. No installation or registration is needed, and the page works on any modern device.
