Converter from PEF
The ready-made photo embedded in Pentax PEF RAW files is taken and saved as JPG, PNG or WebP. The size may be smaller than the full shot. Everything happens in the browser, files are not uploaded anywhere.
PEF, or Pentax Electronic Format, is the raw image format of Pentax K-series and 645 digital SLR cameras. It stores sensor data in almost its original form, so ordinary viewers and messengers do not open such a file.
A PEF file is built on TIFF: inside there are a reduced preview shot, sensor data and shooting information such as exposure time, aperture, ISO and camera model. Color depth is usually 12 or 14 bits per channel.
Pentax cameras can also record RAW in the open DNG format, so both variants may sit in one archive. If shots are saved as PEF and you have no special programs at hand, it is enough to turn the frame into an ordinary picture.
The PEF to JPG converter finds the ready-made embedded image in the file and saves it as JPG, PNG or WebP. The size of such a frame may be smaller than the full sensor resolution, and the colors match the camera settings at the time of shooting.
The conversion happens in the browser, and files are not uploaded to a server. You can add several shots and download the results one by one or all at once. For printing large formats and deep exposure editing, it is better to process PEF in a RAW editor.
