JPG to AVIF Converter
JPG to AVIF: the lightest file for a website at good image quality. Quality, encoding speed and transparency. Files are not uploaded to a server.
AVIF gives the lightest file at good quality but takes longer to encode. The codec is downloaded the first time.
JPG becomes AVIF, a format with one of the best compression ratios. For a website it is the lightest file at good quality: pages load faster and visitors spend less traffic. Encoding takes longer than for JPG or WebP.
JPG is the most common photo format. It compresses with loss and supports neither transparency nor animation, but it opens in any program, on any device and on any site. Each new lossy save degrades the quality a little.
AVIF is a next-generation format: at the same quality the file is noticeably lighter than JPG and WebP, and transparency is supported. The price is encoding time and compatibility: modern browsers open AVIF, but not all programs do.
For AVIF you set the quality from 1 to 100 and the encoding speed: the slower it is, the slightly lighter the file. A small codec is downloaded on first use. The size in pixels can stay as it is or be changed by width, by height or in percent. Results download one by one or all at once as a ZIP, with random or original names.
Converting JPG to AVIF happens in your browser: files are not uploaded to a server, so it is fast and safe. You can drag several files in, pick them in a file window or paste from the clipboard with Ctrl+V. To encode AVIF a small codec is downloaded on first use, so an internet connection is needed, but the picture itself is never sent anywhere.
