Every website needs a favicon: it appears in the browser tab, in bookmarks and in search results. This page creates a full set of icons from one picture, so you do not have to assemble the different sizes by hand in a graphics editor.
The output includes a favicon.ico file with 16, 32 and 48 pixel sizes, PNGs for tabs and Retina screens, an icon for Apple devices, Android icons at 192 and 512 pixels, a tile for Windows and a web app manifest file.
The square base is adjusted right on the page. You can crop the picture around the center or fit it whole, add padding, round the corners up to a circle and choose a transparent background or a solid color. The icon for Apple devices is always made without transparency.
Along with the files, the page gives you ready-made HTML code that you only need to paste into the head section. Copy it with one button, upload the icons to the root of your site and enter the name, theme color and background for the manifest.
The source can be a PNG, JPG, WebP or SVG. The larger the picture, the sharper the icons will be, so for a logo it is better to take a file of 512 pixels or more. The conversion happens in the browser, and the finished files are downloaded as a single archive.
