Converter from NEF
The ready-made photo embedded in Nikon NEF RAW files is taken and saved as JPG, PNG or WebP. The size may be smaller than the full shot. Everything happens in the browser, files are not uploaded anywhere.
NEF is the raw image format of Nikon cameras. The name comes from the words Nikon Electronic Format. It is used in the company’s DSLR and mirrorless cameras and contains sensor data together with shooting settings and a description of the camera.
The file structure is based on TIFF and includes several images: a reduced thumbnail, a medium-size preview and the main sensor data. Color depth is usually 12 or 14 bits per channel, which gives a large margin for correction.
Raw data requires development, in which white balance, noise reduction and color profiles are applied. That is why NEF files do not open in most browsers and messengers, and correct viewing needs special programs or conversion to an ordinary format.
The NEF to JPG converter extracts the ready-made embedded image from the file and saves it as JPG, PNG or WebP. Such a frame already contains processing according to the camera settings, so its appearance matches what the camera screen showed.
The size of the embedded image may be smaller than the full resolution of the sensor, and the dynamic range data of the original shot is not kept in it. For maximum quality a RAW editor should be used, while for quick publishing the resulting file is enough.
All calculations are performed on your device. Pictures are not uploaded to a server and remain available only to you. Results can be downloaded one by one or all together. It works in any modern browser.
