Removing EXIF and Metadata

Remove geolocation, camera model, shooting date and other hidden data from photos. The image quality does not change. The pixel size does not change. Everything happens in the browser, files are not uploaded anywhere.

Drag images here or click to choose JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, AVIF, SVG, TIFF, BMP, ICO, TGA, PCX, PPM, PGM, PBM, QOI — you can select several files at once
Rotation is needed so that a phone photo does not end up sideways. The color profile contains no personal data, but it affects color accuracy.

EXIF is a set of metadata that a camera or smartphone writes into a file together with the image. It stores the device model, shooting settings, date and time, the processing program and quite often the exact coordinates of the place where the picture was taken. This information is visible to everyone who receives the file.

Publishing photographs without cleaning can reveal a home address, a workplace or travel routes. Besides geographic data, metadata may include the serial number of the camera, the owner’s name, a thumbnail of an earlier version of the picture and service records of editors.

The EXIF removal tool processes files without re-encoding. For JPG, the program goes through the file segments and removes the metadata blocks without touching the data of the image itself. For PNG, WebP, GIF and SVG the corresponding service blocks are removed. The quality of the picture stays the same.

EXIF can be removed with 2 optional exceptions. The first is keeping the orientation, so that a phone photo does not end up sideways. The second is keeping the ICC color profile, which contains no personal data but affects the accuracy of color display.

The size of the image in pixels and its appearance do not change, while the file size usually decreases slightly. Before publishing, it is recommended to check the result on the metadata viewer page and make sure that information about the shooting location is absent.

All operations are performed on your device, and files are not uploaded to a server. You can upload several pictures at once and download the cleaned versions separately or all together. After the page is closed, temporary data is removed from browser memory.
